The redevelopment of the Vineyard Street area forms a key element of the St Botolph’s Quarter Masterplan and is an integral part of Colchester Borough Council’s wider strategic plans to provide a range of social, economic and environmental benefits to the community.
While drawing up the St Botolph’s Masterplan, the Council undertook independent studies that helped to identify the Vineyard Street area as the most suitable location for the development of additional shopping facilities for Colchester. It was concluded that a development of this type could be fully integrated into the existing town centre and provide a boost to trade and regeneration throughout the town.
Our plans for Vineyard Gate will support these objectives.
Since the successful public exhibition in September 2007, we have been focused on addressing various issues raised by the public, integrating the competition entries that were chosen to determine the design of key components of the scheme, and progressing pre application discussions with Colchester Borough Council and other bodies including English Heritage and CABE. This has all taken longer than originally expected and further meetings are now taking place to ensure that the project produces the right long term result for everyone in Colchester.
We are continuing to work closely with the Borough Council and will provide a more detailed update on our progress in the near future. Click here for the latest news about the scheme
